As an example, the New York State Police had over 50,000 man-hours into a cold case of the tragic homicide of Megan McDonald. They had hundreds of leads over two decades and couldn’t get enough evidence that would lead to an arrest. The starting point for Cybercheck was the case details from an article in the New York Times. After Cybercheck finished processing through its five layers of intelligence, two cyber profiles were found to be present with Megan leading up to her death. This new cyber profile intelligence belonging to the two suspects allowed new DNA to be processed, which matched DNA present in Megan’s car after her disappearance, giving law enforcement what they needed to finally make an arrest in this 20-year-old case.
